What is a mode?
Modes allow you to quickly customize various feature sets by choosing a default Mode for your Project in addition to Mode overrides for individual Data Rooms. Each Mode is loosely tied to a unique use case and includes some Mode-specific features. Two modes are available:
- Data Room (Default)
- Secure File Storage
Data Room Mode
This Data Room Mode should be applied when confidentiality between Data Room users is important. This Data Room Mode offers the same basic features as Secure File Storage Mode but adds an extra layer of security and anonymity for all Data Room users. Unique features include:
- Automatic Indexing
- Data Room Export Setting
- Stealth Users
- Hidden Activity
Secure File Storage Mode
Secure File Storage Mode is appropriate for most scenarios where securely storing, accessing, and sharing files is required but anonymity is not a requirement. Unique features of this Mode include:
- Thumbnail View and Default View Setting
- Default Sort Setting
Setting the Mode for Data Rooms Across Your Projects
Access the Project-level Data Room Mode setting from the Project Settings > Theme section. Any new Data Rooms created across a Project will be set to the Mode selected here.
Setting the Mode for an Individual Data Room
You can override the Project-level Mode setting for any given Data Room from the Data Room settings.
Changing the Mode for a given Data Room from Data Room settings will override the Project-level Mode for the selected Data Room only.
